I recently contacted Gene Walshaw d/b/a Best Choice Inspections, and was given a very quick appointment date. I have had home inspections performed by other companies before, but never have I received such a detailed complete home inspection report. I was very impressed that Mr. Walshaw took the time to call us when he was nearing completion and invite us over to the house and he very slowly and completely went over all the issues, showing us every detail and then making suggestions to fix and/or repair the problems he found. Then, the very next day, I received a detailed report, complete with very clear pictures of the issues he found. It was so detailed, it reminded me of looking at a Home Depot Home Improvement Book I have. I loved being able to receive the report by email, which is much quicker and efficient than waiting on snail mail. Gene was an amazing inspector. He came the first day just to go over the house and get a feeling for what was going on and then he told us all about his services. He made us feel like he was doing this work for us and not to get additional work out of us. He was here to find the problem, if any, and give us ideas on how to fix the problem. After his three hour inspection and a 45 minute explanation, we knew what he found and felt relieved. I believe Gene is the best of the best and would be a great inspector FOR YOU! Gene and Dave arrived promptly. Were agreeable to my following and asking questions - given that I hardly knew what to ask they provided a running commentary of what they were looking at and the relative status of each item/system. They took pictures of everything. The inspection was comprehensive - from climbing around in the attic to crawling to every corner of the crawl space. The inspection was completed after about 3+ hours on a Friday afternoon; the report was emailed on Sunday at 10:30 pm. Gene was available by phone the next morning for a detailed review of the report. He provided intelligible (i.e., language that even I could understand) explanations and offered website references for our further study and names of service providers.Very professional and personable - we got our monies worth.

Gene,We just want to say what a really good experience it has been to work with you. This past summer we had to cope with a mold disaster emanating from a basement room of a house we own in Knoxville. You made an awful ordeal much more endurable than it might have been. You were not only completely competant in the making the multiple inspections needed through the entire house, but you were also kind, patient, and helpful throughout. Thank you for being so professional and thorough at what you do. Thedetailed report with photographs are accurate, very useful, and in plain English that even I can understand. I will recommend you to family, friends and others as well, that are in need or want a home inspection. Your website is 100% true and your values (ten commitments for excellent service) are Grade A+. Your professionalism and service was more that what I ever expected in a home (condo) inspection. Being a first time home (condo) buyer, I never realized how important an inspection can be. The photographs in the report pin point the faults even if it's just a minor fault. I am very happy with the inspection report and would recommend Best Choice Inspections for first time home buyers or even families who have purchased several homes over the years.

Gene, I have to say that was a most impressive report…..WOW! You really did a good job giving me such bad news…everybody who has seen it has been most impressed with the quality of your work. I can’t wait to use your services again.I am sure Alice has called you by now. Between the 2 of you, I am sure she will find me another suitable place without me even being down there to see it for myself.
Thank you so much. $400 to save me $95K. Doesn’t sound like such a bad idea at all……
